aha....

i dont know what happened to my writing habit. i cant give shape the simplest of the thoughts . i visit this site like any other visitor. i look back at the posts i have written and wonder about the zeal i used to have. nothing seems to get elaborated no matter how much i want to stretch it. when i need this skill the most. as i am preparing for the gre exam my stock of words seem to decrease gradually to nothin..... :-S

lately i have enjoyed two movies very much. one is "earth" of deepa mehta and the other is "aha" directed by enamul kobir nirjhor. dont knw why i liked these. may be because i liked to get confused these days.... here is a lyrics of a confusing song from more confusing movie "aha"...

dur isharay bohu dure achre pore akash
ki hoy toder ektukhani ador beshi makhash.
durer manush, kachher manush jotil shomikoron
shorol moner torol kadhe korchhi take boron.
dur isharay bohu dure.....

trivia

in cricket wickets are like money you can spend. it depends on your ability/sense to use the money in the right way in the lifetime(50 overs). today bangladesh had all the money, but in a 22 overs span. now think that your lifetime is shortened and you have all the money you wanted to spend in your expected natural lifetime! just think about the opportunity! we have spent them with very poor result. :(

what i liked about this night - the cool breeze after a hot sunny day.

what amazes me about australia - to others the cricket is a game. to australia its child-play.

what i despise about australia - they play like robots.

what should be done - australia should be disqualified as they dont face any competition.

what irritated me mostly tonight - the remote controller. it isn't working when i want. and i found out that each time i press a button and it isnt responding, i feel pain on my fingertip! and also it seems hard too!! :-?

watched "dejavu" of denzel washington in the cineplex. its about time traveling. they wanted to make a science fiction and ended up with a science fantasy(does this line make sense)! rating 6 out of 10.

writer's block and "the painted veil"

i have been going through writer's block. for so many days. it seems never ending. i log into the blogger with thousands of thoughts in my head screaming to be out in the world. but the doors are locked, the keys thrown away in somewhere distant sea. i wish and wait for the fairy godmother. and wait..........

recently i watched a movie - "the painted veil", written by W. Somerset Maugham. its about a english couple who got married and struggled to find there love and cross the distance between them. as the baseline of the movie goes - "sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people." walter, a middle class doctor and kitty, an upper-class woman -- get married for the wrong reasons and relocate to Shanghai, where she falls in love with someone else. when he uncovers her infidelity, in an act of vengeance, he accepts a job in a remote village in China ravaged by a deadly epidemic, and takes her along. their journey to the epidemic worn village brought meaning to their hateful relationship. its a very touching story and a real one. a relationship depends on how much compromise you can make with your expectations. once they come to an equilibrium it gets ideal. a finely edited and acted movie in the heaven like backdrop of china.

water - by deepa mehta

i heard the name of this movie long ago. that it is a little unorthodox movie from bollywood. last week i had the opportunity to watch it. and i must agree its very well directed, well written movie. it showed the misery of the hindu widows. i was always confused, which one is the main script for the hindu. by the "laws of manu", a hindu religious text a widow should die along with her husband or leave a life with no living desire! or almost something like that.

the story line is ..... In 1938 India an 8 year old girl, who barely even remembers her wedding and has little comprehension of her marriage, has just been widowed. Required by ancient Hindu laws to now leave society, she is brought to a dilapidated widow house or ashram where, according to custom, her hair will be shorn, her clothes exchanged for white robes and the rest of her life, until her death, will be spent in renunciation. But the feisty, precocious, disbelieving Chuyia soon turns the house upside down with her rebellious spark. She begins to have a profound effect on the other women who live there, in particular the devout Shakuntala and the beautiful Kalyani, who has been forced into prostitution by the domineering head widow, Madhumati. It is Chuyia who leads Kalyani to meet the alluring law student and Gandhi nationalist Narayan, with whom Kalyani falls in love, despite the taboos. What happens next--an attempt at escape fueled by passion and bravery--will change Chuyia forever and bring both tragedy and an unexpected ray of hope to the widow house."[review www.hollywood.com]

the two vital point that amazed me are -

1. by the hindu laws, lower castes[also widws] are untouchables, but a brahmin can rape them. more over its for their own good. raping by a brahmin more like a favor to the helpless ppl!!!!!! and ppl believe that!!!!!!!!!!
2. they believe that so much, that Kalyani willingly went to get the 'favor' in a brahmin's home, as a prosititute!

now, how blind someone needs to be to act like that. i was feeling rage while watchin the movie, not towards the brahmin, but the ppl who believe that. may be, ppl who wants to get beaten should be beaten.

enemy at the gates

i was really amazed to see the sniper in the "saving private ryan", he was cool. so always looked for a total sniper movie. and "enemy at the gates" is the dream come true. though this movie is not new, i came to knw about it recently. i bought the dvd and its great. coz i like dramatic movies. In World War II, the fall of Stalingrad will mean the collapse of the whole country. The Germans and Russians are fighting over every block, leaving only ruins behind. The Russian sniper Vassili Zaitsev stalks the Germans, taking them out one by one, thus hurting the morale of the German troops. The political officer Danilov leads him on, publishing his efforts to give his countrymen some hope. But Vassili eventually start to feel that he can not live up to the expectations on him. He and Danilov... fall in love with the same girl, Tanya, a female soldier. From Germany comes the master sniper König to put an end to the extraordinary skilled Russian sniper.

danilov once said, that even in the communist country like russia, it is not possible to make everyone equal. there will be rich and poor even in russia. rich in gifts and poor in gifts. rich in love and poor in love. vassili zaitsev is rich with the love of tanya, whr danilov is poor. though danilov is well educated whr vassili is just an normal soldier, who became the hero of the country.

yesterday i was passin the road on foot, and saw a guy not much older than me, in a vista with his beautiful wife.... and thought its better in communist countries. atleast there would be no such discrimination. certainly it was his father's car. and i was on foot!! now dont tell me to look at the poor ppl sufferin all around us and think im previleged than some. i knw that. but i wanna say its just not fair. being poor in money is something u can cope up with. but being poor of love u cant. Danilov sacrificed his life, should i?

north country

yesterday i started watching the movie "north country", just because the main charecter is charlize theron. i like her acting very much(also her look!..:P). anyway i didnt expect much frm the movie at the first. just bcoz i like her cant make me feel good frm a borin movie, can it? no. anyway, but as the movie kept goin on, i started to enjoy it. and it was really good. worth givin it a try.

the storyline is - charlize theron is a mother of two child in a very young age. and it stated at the beginning that she cant tell the name of the father of her first child as she had many sexual partners. her husband beats her, so she left with two young children and tried to make her own livin in a mining area of north america. the problem is the male coworkers outnumbered the females at 30 to 1. and as the male workers didnt like girls doin the hard job, so they kept on molesting and harassing them sexually. charlize theron tried hard to cope with it but failed. as always she was fightin for her right and tried to sue the mining company for not protectin their female employees. as the trial kept on goin she was the only female demandin for her right and the rest was silent for the fear of losing their living. anyway what happened at the end is ur duty to find out. i can bet u will like it. im saying that coz i was, and its a good movie.

munich

i watched the movie munich this weekend. yet another classic movie directed by steven speilberg. he is a genius. i feel amazed by his skill and talent and at the same time i feel bad that he is a jew. though i think im a liberal person in many cases, i always hate the jews. and it is foretold that jew are the most talented and most cursed ppl on earth. as their wisdom will pull a shade on their eye, heart and soul.....

anyway, rather going to a difficult argument let me say something about this movie. it was nominated for best direction in the oscar. and i was not surprised to knw that. coz its really a good movie. over the world the jews protested against this movie. as it shows some deep hidden acts done by the israeli government.

the story is like this - in olympic 1972 munich, an arab terrorist group kidnapped 11 israeli athletes and demanded the 300/350(cant remember exactly) palestiny ppl held, by israel, be released. on this event 11 hostages were dead and some of the kidnappers. the israeli govt. sent a 5 person assassin grp to find and kill the arab ppl behind this kidnapping. the main character is a devout husband and dad in his personal life, went on killing the arab persons. and felt that "an eye for an eye is not a good idea at all".

anyway speilberg said - he made this movie to reveal the truth. and critics all over the world praised his work. he did it well.

BUT, while watching this movie- the assassin grp was in trouble now and then, as it was a dangerous mission- i felt tense for the very israeli assassins (arent they terrorist also!) whn they faced danger!!!.... and i was amazed again- how tactfully speilberg made all the watchers feel for the killers on the road. though they were actually killing some other killers- what makes them different!!!! lets say both the party are eager to get their vengenance.

if u dont believe me, watch the movie.
some critcs u can check.... link..

i once enjoyed a movie named "bedazzaled"... starred by brandon fraser and elizabeth hurley (this actress is somethin... she has a attractive figure, but more over she has a cool accent... listenin to her voice will make u feel aristrocrat!!)... its an average commedy/romantic movie... but i enjoyed the storyline... elizabeth hurley acts as satan and offers fraser 7 choices.. anythin he wants... but he is very much in love with a girl... so we wanted the girl as her wife, power and money... he woke up and found he is a mexican druglord!!(power and money)... found the girls as her wife... but she has an affair with her spanish teacher... and along with money and power came trouble... he came back and found that the girl likes sensitive man... so his second wish, he wants to be the most sensitive man on the earth and the girl must love him... this time he found himself with the girl on the seabeach, cryin as the birds are flyin or the sun is settin(being sensitive)... so the girl became so much bored and left with a macho man...angry this time he came back and wished to be the most macho man in the world and offcourse the girl must fall in love with him at the first site... so the wish is fulfilled... we found himself as a 7 feet tall basketball player and he plays so good, he is a star... the girl is a sports reporter, fell in love, saw his penis!! and found it amazingly tiny!!.. so the girl runs away... hahahah... and thus goes the story...

the point is, no matter how well formed and thought wish he asks for, hurley makes it a nightmare..
