cricket world cup 2007

i came to office today, a little content, as Bangladesh has won against India in their first match in the cricket world cup 2007. it is a good victory for a corruption worn country like Bangladesh. when we cant see anything(some are improving these days; lets see how long) improving in here, Bangladesh cricket team gives an opportunity of celebration and joy. true, we haven't won the world cup or haven't ensured the super 8 in the least, but winning against a good team is always enthusiastic and encouraging.

this feels so good, because i was watching the match through an Indian channel and these people don't even want to think about losing to Bangladesh. but face the truth dear, and follow your own ad where you say "jhut boltahe o log jo boltahe daar nahin lagta". :P and certainly this wasn't a fluke. everybody knew very well that Bangladesh will try to win the match and thus India was prepared for it. Bangladesh won by playing better in all the sectors. now we are expecting srilanka will beat India as well, so that our path gets clear.

another thing that caught my eyes is an Pepsi ad where the Indians are shown as royal Bengal tigers! i thought it meant Bangladeshi team. what i found out is both of the countries national animal is royal bengal tiger. hmmm.... now thats embarrassing. :-?

while watching the match till late night i was worried about attending the office! i will sure drowse the whole day. so as i was expecting Bangladesh to win the match i wanted them to make it as fast as they can(!!!) so i can have a little more sleep. also expecting they would not be hasty and lose all the wickets in this winning position as they are used to do. only habibul bashar played like dumb and gave up the wicket for nothing. such immaturity!

additionally Pakistan is out of the world cup. :D......... so cheers guyz. keep up the good work!

changed to blogger beta

yay! im in the blogger beta now!...:D

a few days back i have found the long awaited blue box in the dashboard informing the new option i have. is it the post where i have made one trifle attempt to catch notice of the blogger developer team? is it because my blog is so popular!!! or is it because everybody is getting the chance to migrate? :-?

while migrating i was afraid what is going to happen. there was a warning like this - 'you cannot switch back to the old blogger once you migrate'. it made me really scared. it sounds crazy but i dont like to delete written codes. no matter how unnecessary they are. for example the two visitor tracker i have embedded in the main page. will they survive? or is it going to be deleted and i will have only the old posts with a complete new simple template where i cant do anything! deleting means killing!! isnt it? my computer has a load of meaningless, extra files, s/w that i cant get rid of. do they have a soul!!!:-?... i feel like they are begging, - please sir dont kill me this way!... heh heh...

anyway the good thing is i have switched over to the blogger beta. and it is solving the known issues. more over i have my old template and i can edit them like before. so its all for the good... :D

blogger beta

while using the blogger, i wondered why the blogger team isnt upgrading the system. dont they care about anymore! because it has loads of issues to solve. blogger beta is the solution to many of those issues. i had ignored the beta blogger for some time now. if you are a blogger and havent heard of it yet, then you might be delighted to know about this new approach.

the main problems squared up are -
- dynamic serving - what happened in the old blogger was that it would create static HTML files on your account every time you published, and those files would remain there unchanged until your next update. adding a new post in blogger beta is just updating the database. pages are created for the visitors dynamically, on the fly. no more replublishing and waiting for the indicator to reach 100%. i hate the waiting.
- categorization of the posts - which the blogger developers are naming as labels. the much talked about issue for the old blogger. now you can put the posts according to the tags that suits it and visitors can view them caetgorically. i saw and found old bloggers managed ways to categorize the posts using a third party, and it wasnt automatic and needed a good amount of effort.
- site viewing permission - some bloggers dont want their posts to be seen in public. in my thoughts their blogs are semi-private or semi-public. means they want a selected amount of users to access it. which actually doesnt make sense to me. well this can be done now. you can limit the blog to invited persons, or even only to the authors.
- widget elements - drag and drop widgets for the templates are added along with the template code editing.

the known issues -
- only IE 6 and firefox is supported till now.
- english-only
- third party services will not work.

you can add your wish here, if you have a good idea.

everything is going in the good direction, but slowly. i was wondering how i can switch to the new blogger beta and found out it is being given very slowly. only a low percentage of people who log in to blogger will see the option to switch over. the lucky ones will find a blue box in the sidebar of their dashboard. click the "learn more", and you will be guided through the switch over. everyone will get the option eventually sooner or later. but i dont like the idea of waiting. it kills me....:( and i didnt like the idea of leaving the old blogspace and starting over from the very beginning. i have to wait for it till the crack-heads can find my profile suitable! but if it seems a good option to leave your old home, start a new account in the gmail(you need a gmail account to create your profile). and start having fun.

hey you blogger developers(with a shouting tone and waving hands)!!!!! ---- i want to switch over....:D

belated blog day 2006

how come i hadnt heard of it before! i couldnt log into the net on 31st august. so when today i came to my office and started checking mails and blogs, i found out there is one blog day and it was last thursday. hmm. anyway Belated-Happy(!) -Blog-Day to everybloggy(!) in this world. now what is the idea behind this blog day? while searching for it ive found out that there is one www.blogday.org maintained by Nir Ofir, editor in chief of an Israeli web portal. and he claims its his brain child. he said -
"the date 3108 (August 31st) looks like the word “Blog”. I have noticed it when I was in the first Blog conference that was held in Israel and I doodled it on a paper. On that day I started the BlogDay idea." - Nir Ofir.

its allright. im glad that someone has started the idea. but 5 NEW blogs should be recommended by me. so that readers/visitors to my site gets to know about other good, readable blogs. ahem. i have one question though, to whom it may concern - what is a NEW blog? blog that i found out recently or blogs that my visitors havent found out yet? in my opinion recommendable blogs that i found out recently are infact very old...khekz. and those that are not recommendable shouldnt be recommended, right? now now, dont get crazy. im just kiddin a little. i think i have allready recommended 5 sites on the right side bar of my site. i dub thee(s) sites as my recommended sites....:P... along with them u can visit perpetually befuddled aisha.

oopsie. when i was going through this post in search of errors that i most frequently do, i found out only 1 of the 5 sites on my right side bar is regular in bloggin. and that is rajputro aka shafi. Dipu is not blogging for months now. Shakia came back a few days back and most probably will go in hibernation once again :-? audity and samara just blocked their site from public access. ahemmm. im feeling confused. i suddenly found out the blogs that i used to read and comment on, are no more :(. bless them. I feel so alooooooone bohoooooo......

century

this is 100th post and my 4th try to write. i have been tryin to publish this post for one week! mozila 1.5.0.4 and blogger is not supporting me at all. may its becoz of the nervous nineties. anyway, thanx to every visitor of this blog. :D

a lot has happened in the past week. mainly in terms of worldcup. brazil have played almost without a forward! i couldnt see ronaldo or adriano much in the game. were they really their? or just their ghosts! argenitna played unbelievably good vs serbia, the team of most hard defense!! ivory cost played fantastic against holland once again, but failed to avoid losing. france stayed on their derailed path i.e couldnt score for almost 8 years in the worldcup finals!!! and most fantastic of all, the group E became the group of death, instead of grp C. Ghana beat the mighty Czec 2-0. im feelin that the worldcup have started to show its greatness and unpredictiblity now. atleast i hope so.

lets see whether brazil has something amazing to show or not. to do that ronaldo must stop sleepin on the field or sleep outside. to give robinho a fair chance. go ronaldinho, go brazil.

NB: as a follow up of the last post - im not on top of the world. or may be i am, coz everybody else is, literally that is. we all are on top of it. :P

who read blogs!

i was searching in the google, and didnt knw what i am searchin!! i found about this post about "who read blogs" .

it gives some statistics about the blog readers. -
* 60% are male and 40% female
* 61% have a total income of more than $60,000 per year!!!!
* 54% uses dial-up Internet connection and 46% uses broadband

and the reason behind the blog readings are -
* To get varied opinions on news, issues, and other matters of interest.
* To gather information from a trusted source!!!(hows that?)
* To learn more about a certain topic.
* To find people with similar interests and ideas.
* To be entertained with stimulating and/or humorous content.

blogger vs wordpress

i have gone through the wordpress today. at first i was fooled by the comparison. it made me feel that im using in a place whr no options are given. going through the different options given by the wordpress i found out that blogger blog is better.

let me explain.... if u r willing to write only in the blogs then wordpress is far more better than blogger. it will take care of the things u want to be taken care of. it has smart interface and has many options automated.

now if u want to control all the things in ur blog, how they will appear and what r the things u want in ur site, then u might find that wordpress is not giving u all the options u want to explore. Wordpress doesnt allow u to write/edit ur template manually. yes u can change its appearance, But with the limited given options.

the comparison is more like windows vs linux. windows is user frndly and the user doesnt need to care and knw about the details. in linux u can actually code ur system. which makes it totally vulnerable, whr windows is much safe. but u cant do many a things u can in linux.

so if u want to relax and write only then i refer u to the wordpress. but if u want to do a little more than that, blogger gives u the options to change ur template make it marvellous or a thing doesnt work(!) depending how u r changing...:P

i think i prefer the blogger, till the wordpress gives the options to edit and code my template.
what do u think..??

new house!!!

one of my frnd, dipu gave me this link

http://www.ojr.org/ojr/images/blog_software_comparison.cfm

i have felt difficulties when using the blogger blog. but didnt knw how to solve the problem. so opened the wordpress blog. the most amazing thing is it gives u the option to import all the post frm the blogger blog. so i did so. and im happy. though dont knw what to do now. whether to redirect the blogger site to this one or just refer there about me!!!… well feeling more like im changing my house. :O

my new house - http://aragorn.wordpress.com/

there is one thing i enjoyed in the blogger site. i could manipulate the template of the site. dont knw whether its available in here or not.
lets see what time tells me. give some advice please what to do??

google page rank

i always wonder, what would happen if there were no google search engine to help us find sites we need. also how do they rank the pages. how one pages come to the first search result for some terms..... and offcourse what brilliant software engineers these ppl are!!!... has a dream to work in the google!!:O... yeap may be an impossible dream, a rather expensive dream. but dreams are dreams. so no problem.

i have a toolbar that shows the google page rank. ranking frm 0 to 10. and saw almost all the time that my blogsite has 0 out of 10.. :( ... today and one day earlier this month this site of mine was showing ranked 5!!!.... i dont knw how... then refreshed the site to verify... page rank stays at 5.... i was so glad..feeling on the top of the world.. after an hour i checked again. and bam. its down to earth again. 0. zeeeerrrrooo!! huh. or should i say duh!

im confuesed now. whether the pageranks shown for other sites are really true. or just some random rnaking!!!

u can check this link. it tried to describe also. but too much confusing.

blook

when i first saw the word i thought it a speling mistake. then i found out that its not a mistake... its a combination of blog+book=blook!!!.... when the idea of bloggin started it was kind of episodic, which is still common to ppl all around the world.
here is the history for the blogging culture...

"Like with the start of many things, early bloggers did not have a name for what they were doing. While it took some time for the genre and the name to develop, blogging has been around since the begining of the internet. Below is a history of early blogs in timeline form.

Dawn of Internet Time: Tim Berners-Lee at CERN begins keeping a list of all new sites as they come online.
June 1993: NCSA's oldest archived What's New list of sites.
June 1993: Netscape begins running it's What's New! list of sites.
Jan 1994: Justin Hall launches Justin's Home Page which would become Links from the Underground.
April 1997: Dave Winer launches Scripting News. His company, Userland, will release Frontier, Manila and Radio Userland, all website and blog content software.
Sept 1997 Slashdot launches their news for nerds.
Dec 1997: Jorn Barger coins the term web log.
November 1998: Cameron Barrett publishes the first list of blog sites on Camworld.
Early 1999: Peter Merholz coins the term blog after announcing he was going to pronouce web blogs as "wee-blog". This was then shortened to blog.
Early 1999: Brigitte Eaton starts the first portal devoted to blogs with about 50 listings.
July 1999: Metafilter's earliest archives.
July 1999: Pitas launches the first free build your own blog web tool.
August 1999: Pyra releases Blogger which becomes the most popular web based blogging tool to date, and popularizes blogging with mainstream internet users. "(source)

now some bloggers are not writing episodic or single thought per post anymore...Some bloggers became so populat that they have turned to traditional print to collect their thoughts at greater length...

now thr is "blooker competition!!!"... bloggers turned to blookers around the world is participating the competition... on three different categories the prize will be given... fiction, non-fiction and comics.and the winners of these two sections get a cash proze of $1000... the winner of the grand prize will get $1100.... (source)

hmmm.... i wish i started bloggin be4... may be i would have been a blooker myself... anyway its a thing worth givin a try the next time....:P

here are some more links if u wanna dig deep in the blogs, blooks and best about them... guardian unlimited... also the lulublookerprize...
